Shifa Foundation has been registered as a not-for-profit charitable organization since 1991 in Islamabad, Pakistan. The latest info shows more alarming conclusions about the measurable increase in the number of people falling below the poverty line in the recent years, in Pakistan. Our society is suffering from lots of issues, including injustice, oppression, racism, unfair discrimination, etc.

Therefore, such a registered NGO started a Shifa Foundation Medical Center since February 2001, in its effort to extend a helping hand to our such brethren throughout all societies of our beloved country in need of primary and secondary health care till today.

Increasing injustice is a fully grown dilemma in Pakistan’s society. Many of our poor people suffered very badly because of such notable inequality – that is increasing day by day; and we believe that the unavailability of free judiciary system is the main reason behind this cause.

In Pakistan, women are not just our attractive possessions that should be hidden away and protected from all other members of the society. They are humans who deserve an equal chance just like men to live an independent life. Our society needs to understand that women are not asking to be raped if they step out of their house to go to study or work. But unfortunately, our male-controlled societies tolerate oppression of women for childish reasons, such as the unwillingness to accept the proposal rejection, the possibility of living side by side with a successful independent wife than instead of ruling over an obedient child-bearer, etc.

As as example of the issue of racism in our country,  I want to write down from an experience that last year, triumph by the separatists encountered a shock by the Washington Post about Pakistan being among the most racially long suffering countries in the world. However, much of the Pakhtun community being systematically oppressed, mocked and expelled from the country, was offline and unavailable for comment.

Unfair Discrimination

As the part of this issue, I want to write down that usually in our society, girls with dark complexions find out their destinies to be stuck down. From being mocked at their darkness since childhood, to their failure to get good marriage proposals when they grow up, all because they are not fairer enough in completion is in itself a dreadful occurrence.

There are many other social issues being faced by Pakistan as well, including poverty, illiteracy, corruption, terrorism, unemployment, international interference, bad health, etc.

The ‘International Tolerance Day’ is a time for people to learn about respecting and recognizing the rights and beliefs of others. It is also a time of thinking and debate on the negative effects of intolerance. On this day, live discussions and debates happen across the world, focusing on how various forms of such issues that are already mentioned above, influence the society negatively.

On November 16, 2016, on this occasion, Shifa Foundation is holding a ‘Seminar’ at Iqra University Islamabad along with learning activities, including Poster Competition, between 10 am and 1 pm.
