OPEN Islamabad Annual Forum 2014 with the theme of “Celebrating Entrepreneurs of Islamabad” celebrated and acknowledged the successful Islamabad entrepreneurs at the picturesque restaurant of ‘1969 and Time Goes On” in Islamabad. Entrepreneurs, professionals and representatives of the organizations gathered to hear from world-class speakers and participated in very engaging discussions.The full-day event finished with giving the “Iconic Brands of Islamabad” awards to Nayatel, Pappasallis and Excel Labs. Wahaj-us-Siraj (CEO Nayatel), Ms. Zeenat Ayesha (Owner, Pappasallis) and Dr Naseer Ahmed (CEO Excel Labs) received the awards.
The Chairman of the Board, OPEN Islamabad Ather Imran said that, “We never celebrate the immense success stories among us. There are wonderful entrepreneurs doing great work, and the event is centered on giving a stage to these stories. Islamabad today is very different from Islamabad of 20 years ago. There is a growing entrepreneurial and startup ecosystem and that is what OPEN Islamabad aims to foster and grow”. Owais Anjum, President OPEN Islamabad, said that OPEN Islamabad’s vision is to give consistent long-term value to the Islamabad entrepreneurial community and it intends to build strong partnerships with other organizations to strengthen entrepreneurial eco system and create opportunities for businesses young and established alike. He laid out various programs and events that have been launched by OPEN Islamabad. The event was also attended by Syed Javed Qamar, President OPEN Global, who travelled specially from US to attend the event. Mr. Mansoor Khan – Board Member OPEN Islamabad and CEO Makabu conducted the event in his mesmerising voice.
Entrepreneurs from all over the country and United States came together to take in what the forum had to offer — from informative sessions, high-powered speakers including Veqar Ul Islam (CEO Jaffer Business Systems), Junaid Kalim (CEO Kalim Group of Companies) and Ayesha Hamid (CEO Asia Schools).
Ayesha Hamid CEO Asia Schools moderated a panel discussion with women entrepreneurs including Ayesha Zeenat (Owner Pappasallis), Pernian Faheem Fashion entrepreneur, Kimberlee Blanc (US Embassy) and Mrs. Feroza Zaidi (EMS Schools). The discussion focused on female branding and bringing opportunities for women to grow holistically.
The inspiring stories showcased were by Fahad Tiwana (a 24-year old technology entrepreneur who has set up 3 companies), Ambreen Malik (CEO Blue Saints, who is working to revive the art of our traditional pottery), Bilal Awan (Owner, 1969 restaurant), Muniba Mazari (Dheeray Bolo), Maliha Elahi (Consultant and Trainer), Dr Affan Syed (Director ORIC, FAST Islamabad), Ammar Mumtaz (Burning Brownies), Sadaf Tausif (O-level student who has won spelling competition and has published a book), Taimur Rehman (Daastaan-go), Syed Muzammil Hasan Zaidi (Lolz Studio) and Dr Faisal Khan (Peshawar 2.0).Share
