“You are what you think” By: Iram Kazmi

As said by a wise man,

“We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.”

Sometimes, I think that our great minds hold all of our secrets, like ‘silicon chips’, like a piece of technology, and what our mind really thinks, makes us a unique individual. Your mind actually gives rise to YOU!

I can prove it based on my personal experience. In my early teens, I was a carefree child as I was the youngest sibling. I always did what I liked at the moment, not caring about what anyone else thought. During those days, my two genius siblings were doing medicine. Watching them, I started to think and asked myself, what am I doing with my life? What is the ‘my’ future? I thought, thought and thought. One day, I made a decision that like my sisters, I will serve humanity so I made my mind that I’d become a doctor. I stuck to that, worked hard against all the hurdles in my life and scored 1024/1100 in Pre-Medical. I could not believe that I’d done it. And today, I am studying in one of the most prestigious institutes of the country – FATIMA JINNAH MEDICAL COLLEGE.

So, everybody can achieve what they want to if they set their minds to it.

A writer, Dr.Malts, coined the term ‘self-image’, as a view we all have about ourselves. We know our limitations and qualities. Using his theory, it has been proven that one can either outperform or under perform what they believe to be true. Neuro-physiology also says that we have the power to change our thoughts that leads to the incredible change in our lives.

So, reboot yourself! What have you got to lose? Start now because what you tell yourself everyday will either lift you up or tear you down. The choice is yours.
